Logistik & Transport 2015 in Göteborg, Sweden

Logistik & Transport 2015 in Göteborg, Sweden

One of the leading fairs in the transport and logistics industry took place in Göteborg, Sweden from May 19 - 21, 2015.

In summary, that event has been very interesting and successful for KHT.

The visitors were very impressed by the mobile, mains-free and with a robust trolley equipped MultiScan unit. The quick measurement of dimension and weight of an article enables storage optimization, better capacity planning but also to identify the matching transport box. All that generates smooth production processes and safeness in operating day-to-day business.

Many companies, including reference customers as Rexel or PostNord Logistics in Sweden, already rely on the KHT-MultiScan for their logistical processes.

LogiMAT 2015 – A record trade fair!

LogiMAT 2015 – A record trade fair!

This is the fitting conclusion for the LogiMAT final report 2015.
Initial evaluations point to an astonishing increase in visitors to Stuttgart, to the delight of all exhibitors. The positive trend in the number of national and international visitors of recent years is therefore continuing.

A development which was also very much in evidence for the KHT trade fair team who had two exhibition stands in Halle 3.  There was a lively exchange of specialist information the whole time, with innovative solutions for master data acquisition overall.

We would therefore like to express our thanks for the great many inspiring specialist
discussions which we were able to have with our guests on the LogiMAT 2015 and look forward to the challenges in general cargo measurement and master data acquisition which these discussions produced.

We are naturally not yet satisfied with this and are working flat out to be able to again present you with trends, innovations and news from KHT at the next LogiMAT 2016.

A good “measure” that pays off quickly.

A good “measure” that pays off quickly.

The KHT MultiScan (1) needs only seconds to read barcodes and measure lengths, widths, heights, and weights.

• How many order picking bins does this order need?
• What storage space is needed for 4000 of item no. 4711?
• This order weighs 1070 grams. Is it complete?

These are some of the questions that can be answered with ease when the item weights and
measurements are known. KHT volume measuring instruments need only seconds to measure
the length, width, height, and weight of box shaped and asymmetrical items.

The volume measuring instrument is available in a range of sizes and comes with a robust
trolley for a complete, mobile measuring station fitted with its own power supply.

The KHT ProfileScanner (2) measures cartons while they are passing by on a conveyor. Automated palletisation, monitoring the suitability of incoming goods cartons for the automated high bay store, verification of sealed packaging, contour based identification – the KHT ProfileScanner can do all this and more.

More than 500 customers utilise these efficiency measures. These require software designed for the most diverse range of applications. KHT supplies software for transferring data to mainframes or simply for reading barcodes.

FCS high performance order picking system: 1000 picks an hour in half the space

In the form of its new FCS (fast compact store) developed on the basis of the walking beam, KHT
Kommissionier- und Handhabungstechnik GmbH offers a fast and compact solution for sorting,
buffering, and order picking a range of goods. Standardised basic modules serve to configure systems
economically and for specific applications according to the building block concept. Whereas manual
order picking requires 80 m² of floor space, this solution needs only about 40 m² for the same storage
volume, i.e. a 50% saving in space. This system then fulfils the demand for compact solutions. In a
space 10 m high and 10 m long, the available modules can receive 6000 goods measuring
400 x 300 x 120 mm. The system can also be used for up to four tiers of storage, depending on the
measurements of the goods. The walking beam principle was expanded, and now personnel can
walk safely on the walking beams. Both the order picking routes and the waiting times have been
considerably shortened. In a high performance order picking system of this kind, the distances
travelled take only about 20% of the time needed in conventional manual stores. A system combining
several walking beams can supply a user with up to 1000 bins of order picking goods –
i.e. “part to picker” – every hour.

This measure is a good investment

The MultiScan (1) needs only seconds to measure length, width, height, and weight.
Only by knowing your items can you handle them for efficient logistics.
The master data for an item are as important as its barcode.

An item’s measurements are determined by the MultiScanner “one for all”, including textiles, round shapes, and complex item geometries.
The master data can be analysed to calculate:

• the storage requirements
• the order picking time
• the size of a shipping carton
• the shipping weight of a consignment

The MultiScan is available in a range of sizes for the most diverse applications.
Mounted on the robust DC-CAR trolley, the MultiScan then becomes a convenient, mobile measuring station for master data.
